You need to add a radio, an oscillator and something like that. The only issue here was that there are very few voice oppurtunites.

Just set the microphone to whatever mic you're using.

A little tip, use an external microphone like the apple Earbuds and it'll work.

Now, its possible that windows IS using some automatically downloaded driver from Apple, in that case APPLE should fix the driver to work better, but my guess is they don't have a high incentive to make their airpods work well with someone else's operating system (windows). I think what we really need is a specific driver for airpods on windows FROM APPLE.

This is not microsoft's responsibility in my opinion though, the generic driver can only do so much to support lowest common denominator bluetooth headsets, and airpods are special in a variety of ways (noise cancelling, feedback suppression, etc). It sucked at pretty much anything to do with the Headset profile to be fair. The generic driver sucked at switching between profiles, say from listening to spotify to going to teams to have a call. I noticed that the generic windows driver did ok at supporting the second profile for music, even though getting the airpods to pair with windows was spotty. When an application like Teams starts, it will ask windows to find audio devices that fit one of those profiles (obviously teams asks for the audio devices that support microphone, so the airpods come up (as they support "Headset profile" via the generic driver). microphone and earphones working at same time), "Headphones Profile" is for listening to music. The Bluetooth standard has what they call "profiles" that a bluetooth device can support - "Headset profile" is for phone calls (i.e. I noticed on my windows machine that the generic driver wasn't actually doing a great job with airpods, I was getting mono audio (not stereo) when i was using the microphone, sometimes it would just not work, I would get stereo audio if just using the speakers part of the airpods.

If a bluetooth headset manufacturer (like apple) doesn't provide specific drivers for their device (airpods) then windows has a built-in generic driver in windows that will do the best job it can with the random headset device. They are often automatically downloaded by windows without you knowing. What I am in search for is an official Apple answer to the problem - last paragraphīluetooth headsets (including Airpods) typically come with drivers, these are files that allow windows to talk to them and allow sound/voice/data to pass between windows (and applications like teams ontop of windows) and the headset.

I have learnt a lot from people and the extract below is a logical Technical explanation from what I have gleaned from others and my own experiences. I have seen lots of posts on this subject, I have contacted Apple support and Apple support and I am simply a frustrated user.
